Jess + Chelsea's engagement session was so much fun. We braved the cold on Belle Isle, and then warmed up amongst the greens of the Conservatory.
One of the things I love about winter is that I actually have time to plan and execute just-for-fun shoots. And now that I have endless time in quarantine, there's no excuse to not blog haha. So here's a shoot I did with my sisters and their pets when I was visiting over Christmastime. I drew inspiration from classical art portraits + awkward family photos + pet glamor shoot. Glad to have grown up in a family where there always was, and still is, a menagerie of pets. The guinea pigs, cat, and ball python featured below are just a sample of the horde. Big shout out to my sisters, who were my first photography subjects 10 years ago, and who have always allowed me to use them as my guinea pigs (haha) for any ideas I want to try.
Going back through Katy + Stephen's wedding day to pick which photos to blog made for the best afternoon. These are two of the kindest, most genuine people I've met, and that extends to their whole group of loved ones. They are full of joy and love and can't help but show it. Every part of the day was perfection, but some of my favorite moments were: their first look when they found out they each had picked out cards from Woosah for each other - Katy's super flowy gorgeous dress and veil - the fabulous field of wildflowers we found at Millenium Park - a gif-worthy, super energetic cake cutting - every single moment Katy + Stephen looked at each other with all the love in their hearts.

This was one of my favorite weddings I've ever photographed - every moment and detail was so incredibly personal and intentional. I've never been around a more joy-filled, enthusiastic group of friends and family. It thunder-stormed literally all but five minutes of the wedding day, and instead of being disappointed that they didn't get the sunny outdoor wedding they were hoping for, Emily + Jesse had the most positive attitudes. Everyone laughed uproariously and cried unabashedly (including me) for the entirety of the day.

Eric and Stacy are two of the kindest, most genuine people I've met, and I had a blast photographing them. We had a perfect fall day for their engagement session, and spent the afternoon walking around the beautiful Blandford Nature Center. Graced by sunlight, vibrant autumn colors, and continuous giddy laughter from the two lovebirds, I'd say it was a pretty good day.
These two cuties are full of a zest for life and a laugh-filled love for each other. Their engagement session included some of the best things: hot coffee (at the coziest Lyon Street Cafe), a walk in the woods, PUPPIES! (Jenna + Chris brought their old english sheepadoodle and whippet), blanket-wrapped cuddles, and just the perfect dusting of snow.
